What to do before a massage session?

Three Things To Do Before a Massage Session

If you are about to have a massage session, here’s some advice, some things you should do, what to do before a massage session in order to have a great experience during the massage session and to enhance the massage session benefits.

Take care of your skin

If the massage session takes place during the summer time, let the sunscreen lotion be one of your best friends. It will not only diminish the risk of more serious disease, but will also offer you a great massage experience. Of course, you can use some other skin products in order to have a beautiful and healthy skin, but just before a massage try not to apply them. We have our own products and essential oils to make your session an amazing one.

Stay hydrated

Drink water! Not coffee or alcohol, and not even lemonades (even this might be helpful too). Water is the one that helps in detoxifying your body and can optimize at their maximum the massage benefits. Besides, I should tell you drinking water is one of the things you must do even after the massage. Therefore, with 1-2 days prior to your massage session try to drink 6-8 glasses a water a day and, after the massage, don’t forget about this “rule”.

Take a shower

No matter if you booked the massage session in the morning, or in the afternoon, just after a long cruise, before going to the massage therapist, take a shower just to relax your body a little bit and to be fully prepared of a great experience. Don’t think a shower it is not needed as you will relax during the massage – yes, you will, but the sensations, the whole mind-body experience will be enhanced if you have a shower before this.

Communicate with your therapist

If you have any specific concerns or areas of focus, it’s important to communicate them to your massage therapist. They can tailor the session to address your needs and preferences. Inform them about any injuries, medical conditions, or discomfort you may be experiencing.

Avoid heavy meals

It’s best to avoid eating a large or heavy meal right before your massage. A full stomach can make you feel uncomfortable during the session. Instead, have a light, balanced meal a few hours before your appointment to ensure you’re neither too hungry nor too full.

Dress comfortable

What to do before a massage session? Wear loose and comfortable clothing to your massage session. This will allow you to undress easily and ensure that your therapist can access the areas that need treatment. Most massage sessions are performed with the client undressed or partially undressed, but you will be appropriately covered with a sheet or towel during the session.

Arrive early

It’s always a good idea to arrive a few minutes early to your appointment. This will give you time to check-in, fill out any necessary paperwork, and relax before the session begins. Rushing to your appointment can create unnecessary stress and tension.

Relax your mind

Take a few moments before your massage session to clear your mind and focus on relaxation. Deep breathing exercises or meditation can help calm your thoughts and prepare you for the therapeutic experience.

By following these steps of what to do before a massage session you can optimize your massage session and enjoy the full benefits of the treatment. Remember, a massage is a time for you to unwind and rejuvenate, so take the necessary steps to create a peaceful and soothing environment for your mind and body.
