A study of 68,000 people conducted by researchers at the University of Göttingen found that kindness was the most important trait, with nearly 90% of women thinking it was a top priority.

While attractiveness was important, it came secondary to personality traits like “supportiveness” and “intelligence”.

The study’s lead researcher, Virginia J. Vitzthum, noted that the human brain unconsciously prioritizes what matters and notices physical “imperfections” less.

“Intrinsic goodness and shared values, these are what drive real romance,” she said.

In addition to kindness, women also look for other personality traits in a partner. Here are some of the most important ones

Honesty: Honesty is an important trait for both men and women, but it’s especially important for women. A study published in the journal Archives of Sexual Behavior found that women rated honesty as more important than physical attractiveness in a potential partner.

While physical attractiveness is important, it’s not the most important trait that women look for in a partner.
