“Still Time” (Era Ora), a “Must-See” Italian Dramedy on Netflix

An Italian Rom-Com also with some drama touches, “Still Time” or “Era Ora” in the original language is a “must-see”  Italian dramedy on Netflix.

Starring two great Italian actors, Barbara Ronchi and Edoardo Leo, the movie cast also include some other well-praised actors such as Francesca Cavallini or Andrea Purgatori.

“Still Time” describes the life of a workaholic, Dante (Edoardo Leo), who is always in a rush. After he starts leaping ahead a year every few hours, Dante wants to slow down, but this is not possible anymore and it could cost him the relationship with his wife, Alice (Barbara Ronchi).

The Italian comedies have a special charm

Maybe it’s the language, the views, the jokes, different than the American ones, but the Italian movies, in general, and comedies, in particular, have a special charm. “Still time” (Era Ora) is no exception to the rule. You will certainly be captivated by the present-day story portrayed in such an entertaining, funny but also emotional way.

Another “time-travel movie” – what is different?

You may say that at first, but “Still Time” is not “only a fantasy time-travel movie”. And even if you may guess the theme very easily: “we waste time on things that do not matter”, the way things are painted is different and touching.

“Era Ora” does not resemble the Hollywood movies with the same theme. Watching it, you have a roller-coaster of feelings. You laugh (out load), and then you want to stop the time. You would want to tell Dante what to do, what to say, you then cry and in the end you start wondering if what happens to Dante could happen to you too. Or, by any chance, that already happened, and you missed a train, an opportunity, a person. It makes you wonder if you should have done things differently.

The actors’ chemistry is so good, their talent is so great that you believe every word they’re saying. You’re feeling every reaction and this amplifies the charm, but also the depth  of the movie.

“Still Time” – a seemingly “light movie”, but with a brutally current topic

The way things are presented at first makes you think this is going to be a relaxing movie. And maybe it is… till one point. When the drama of many people nowadays bursts, the variety of emotions hits you hard.

What makes “Still Time” a great movie is how it portrays such an actual topic – it does it in a way you can’t ignore it. You start looking at your life, studying it, wondering thing and how you react at the end might be a good barometer for your own choices.

As it does with Dante, it could make you react differently; it could make you change your life, at least, partially.
